Tasks to set up a 3D residual stress

To set up a 3D residual stress, either follow the order of the buttons on the Home tab of the ribbon UI, or follow the order of the items in the Study Tasks pane. Make sure you have a 3D model, and that you select an analysis sequence that includes Fill+Pack+Warp or Cool+Fill+Pack+Warp.

You can run a 3D residual stress with the following mesh types:

When you get to the process settings, to enable a 3D residual stress:

  1. In the Process Settings Wizard dialog, click Next if necessary until you find the Advanced options button.
  2. Click Advanced options.

    The Fill+Pack Analysis Advanced Options dialog opens.

  3. Click Edit associated with the Molding material.

    The Thermoplastics material dialog opens.

  4. Click the Shrinkage Properties tab, then select the Uncorrected residual stress model in the Select a shrinkage model (3D) drop-down list.

When all the items in the Study Tasks pane have check marks against them, the analysis is ready to launch.
