The Find by Name window now provides real time search result as you type in the search area. MotionBuilder generates a list of search results based on the search term you type. Selecting any of the search results highlights the node in Schematic View.
You can now align nodes vertically rather than horizontally in Schematic View. To view each node structure vertically, right-click in the view and select Arrange All > Vertically from the menu that appears.
You can now search the Navigator to locate character elements and objects in your scene. In the Navigator window, type the name of the character element or object in the search area of the Filters section. See Scene browser View options.
MotionBuilder 2017 includes a number of Viewer enhancements. These new features let you:
Added Viewer windows appear in MotionBuilder as floating windows, but can be docked anywhere in the user interface. Each window has the Viewer and Display menu, but not the Viewer window toolbar. You can assign cameras and perspectives to added Viewer windows.
See Viewer window.
MotionBuilder 2017 includes new Take and Local marks, which you can access from the Transport Controls context menu.
Take marks have the same functionality as the legacy global marking system, but only affect the playback of takes. For example, adding a Take mark to the timeline lets you create playback loops and stop the playback of the specific take.
Also, the legacy marking system, has been renamed to Global Mark. Global marks still appear globally and are not dependent on any take or character.
Use local marks to set the in and out points of animated segments for the Cycle Creator tool.
A new Center Color preference for the Viewer lets you change the color of the center line on the grid. Select Settings > Preferences > Viewer and the set Center Color in the Grid section.
See Viewer preferences.
You can make these changes in the application.txt configuration file by setting GridCenterLineColorR, GridCenterLineColorG and GridCenterLineColorB in the Display section.
Support for 48000 and 96000 Hz audio sampling rate been added for audio devices. If a connected audio device supports these sample rates, they appear in the Rate (Hz) list in the Audio Devices tab.
The Transport Controls now have a Relative Local Time option, which lets you displays the frames or local time code as relative to the timeline start time.
