- The archive file, Radial Comb.ach, is provided in your tutorial models folder. The assembly is 120 microns in diameter and has already been meshed.
- Materials:
- The comb parts are made of polysilicon with a dielectric constant of 10,000.
- The air has a dielectric constant of 1.
- In a subsequent tutorial (Radial Comb Motor Static Stress Analysis), the beam part at the center of the motor provides a support for the rotating comb (Rotor). You must deactivate the beam part for the electrostatic analysis tutorial because there are no supported line elements in an electrostatic analysis.
- The ring-shaped back surface of the stationary comb (Stator) is fully fixed.
- Apply a voltage difference of 15 Volts across the radial comb motor assembly—0V at the hole in the rotor hub and 15V at the ring-shaped back surface of the stator.
- Calculate the resultant Coulomb forces so that they can be applied as a load in the subsequent static stress analysis.
