FeatureCAM supports the use of a rotary table as a 4th axis for indexing between operations and for wrapping, allowing continuous movement of the rotary axis during the cutting operations. Both of these strategies depend on hardware that supports this kind of operation, and the use of a post-processor designed to address that hardware.
5th-axis indexing, also known as 5th-axis positioning, is supported in the 5 Axis Positioning product component. If using 4th- or 5th-axis capabilities you must use different post processor files, or a post that is designed to support both. For 4th-axis indexing or wrapping, use a post in the 4-Axis folder. For 5th-axis positioning, use a post in the 5-Axis folder. Some selected posts in the 5-Axis folder may support both 4-axis and 5-axis; these are identified in the comments or the name of the post.
