Changing Asset Tag, Descriptor, and Property Text Displays

The Options Factory Annotations tab controls asset tag and descriptor text font, height, and placement in AutoCAD Factory. The changes you make affect only assets that are subsequently placed (dragged and dropped) from the Asset Browser into the AutoCAD layout. Your changes do not affect any of the asset tags and descriptors that appear as a result of syncing from Inventor.

If you wish to make changes to the asset tag and descriptor settings from synced assets, use the AutoCAD STYLE command to change the annotation font. To change the attribute text height, use the EATTEDIT command.

Note: Once Inventor is restarted, the annotations settings on the AutoCAD Factory Annotations tab are automatically synced with the annotations settings on the Annotations tab of the Factory Options dialog box in Inventor Factory.

To access the Factory Annotations options:

  1. At the bottom of the Application menu , click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, navigate to the Factory Annotations tab.
  3. On the Factory Annotations tab, select the desired font from the Font drop-down list.
  4. Set the text height in the Height text box. The default text height is 0.125 inches (3mm). Be sure to set the text height to an appropriate size to reflect the drawing/plot scale of the 2D layout.
  5. Next, determine text placement settings.

The Below setting places the text away from the asset or inserted model. Center places the text in the center of the asset or inserted model. The graphic image in the dialog box reflects your placement changes.

Align Left lines the description text up with the left side of the asset text. Align Right lines the text up with the right side of the asset text. Center aligns the text in the middle.

  6. Select the layer in which you want each text type to appear. Asset Tag, Property, and Descriptor layers are always available. Additional options might also appear if you selected the Load Layers from File option in the Factory Assets tab. See Setting Factory Asset Defaults for details about the Load Layers option.
  7. Select Include Property Name to display the name of an asset property in addition to its value. For example, the Factory property heading WEB Link: will appear in front of the web address defined for the asset if this option is selected. If left unchecked, only the web address will appear without the heading.
