To modify CAD surfaces in the normal direction

Use Modify CAD Surfaces - Normal to modify CAD surfaces in the normal direction. This tool is supported for CAD models only.

To move one or more surfaces in the normal direction:

  1. Click Geometry tab > Selection panel > CAD Face to select only the CAD Face.
  2. Select the face(s) you want to modify.
  3. Click (Geometry tab > Modify panel > Modify CAD surfaces > Normal).
  4. To preserve the shape of fillets or chamfers in the faces adjacent to those you selected, click the Search button to find the fillets and/or chamfers automatically. Adjust this list by selecting different faces in the graphics display, or typing face IDs into the Fillets/chamfers list.

Note: For best results, make small adjustments compared to the minimum thickness of the face.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click Save CAD modification to save the change, and enter a unique name for the modification.

You can now access the saved modification from the ribbon (Geometry tab > Modify panel > CAD modification)

Note: For Dual Domain and 3D models, the saved modification is now accessible as a variable in the Parametric Study Builder.
