Expand selection to tetrahedral elements on the same surface

Use the Tetras on Same Surface tool to select all tetrahedral elements with three nodes on the same surface of a 3D mesh.

Use this tool, for example, to select all tetrahedral elements on the same surface before applying boundaries conditions or editing the surface. The elements are selected if there is connectivity, even if the properties of the elements are different.

Note: A surface is defined by elements connected with a smooth bend angle. Elements with different properties can be part of the same surface.
The Tetras on Same Surface tool is supported for the following mesh types:
  1. Make sure that the relevant layers are visible. Invisible tetras are not selected.
  2. Select a 3D mesh element on a surface.
  3. Click (Mesh tab > Selection panel > Expand to) and select Tetras on Same Surface from the drop down menu.
