To assign dynamic dispensing controllers

Assign a start node and end node controller to each dispensing path. You can create multiple dispensing paths.

This task assumes you have imported a model, generated a mesh, selected Underfill Encapsulation as the molding process, assigned injection locations to each node along the dispensing path(s), and setup each of the start and end controllers.

Dynamic dispensing is supported for the following mesh type(s):

  • 3D
  1. Click Set Controller (Boundary Conditions tab > Dispensing panel > Set Controller) to open the Set Dispensing controller dialog.
  2. In the Set Dispensing controller dialog, select the start node controller you want for this dispensing path, then click on your model to select the start node of the dispensing path. This node must already have an injection cone on it. Rotate the model and zoom in as necessary until the controller glyph appears on the node. A cross appears on the selected node. The orientation of the cross is irrelevant, but confirm that the center of the cross is superimposed on your selected start node.
  3. In the Set Dispensing controller dialog, select the end node controller you want to use, then click on your model to select the end node of your dispensing path. This node must also already have an injection location on it. Rotate the model and zoom in as necessary until the controller glyph appears on the node. A cross appears on that node. The orientation of the cross is irrelevant, but confirm that the center of the cross is superimposed on the selected end node.
  4. Repeat for each dispensing path, then close the Set Dispensing controller dialog.
  5. Click Process Settings (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings) and select Perform dynamic analysis to activate dynamic dispensing, then click OK.
  6. Once you have set all your other processing conditions, click Start Analysis to start the simulation.
