Controlling the Job Manager

The Job Manager starts, automatically, when it is installed by the rpm mechanism.

There are several files that control the actions of the Job Manager. In the normal course of operation, you need not alter these files:

Control the Job Manager by calling its control script via the command line in the following manner:

/etc/init.d/dssp_jobserver {option}

where {option} is one of the following:

Option Effect
start

Starts the Job Manager

stop

Stops the Job Manager

status

Queries whether or not the Job Manager is running

restart

Stops, then restarts the Job Manager. This command is useful when you need to force a reread of the configuration files.

By default, the Job Manager is configured to start, automatically, for run levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. When the machine is restarted this means the Job Manager also restarts, automatically.
