Set the internal and external mold mesh surface length on an imported CAD mold model.
Prior to generating the mold mesh:
- Mesh the part, feed system, and cooling channels
- Make visible the layers containing the CAD mold, the part, feed system, and cooling channels.
- Using the Ctrl key and the
Select tool, rotate the mold and select all 6 faces.
- Click
() to open the
Define Mesh Density dialog.
The mold faces selected in the previous step are highlighted.
- Set the Global edge length (Edge length in
Global meshing settings section) to reflect the mold internal edge lengths, or accept the default value.
- In the left-hand panel, select the first mold face, then click
Add>>.
- Repeat this step for all the remaining mold faces. You can also use the
Ctrl key to select all faces at the same time.
- Make sure that
Apply global mesh settings is deselected. This will activate the
Edge length entry box of the
Mesh control group settings section. Enter a suitable mold external edge length in the Edge length box. Mold external edges may be as much as 3-4 times as long as the internal edges.
- Click
OK to accept the new external edge length for these mold faces and
Close.

The mold is now meshed with the specified edge lengths.
