Use the Offset command to apply an offset distance to surface mesh elements from their original position and in the surface normal direction.

To access this panel, click (Mesh tab > Mesh Edit panel > Advanced > Offset).

Dialog element Explanation

Does not include remeshing of surrounding triangles.

Avoid input mistakes or unexpected intersection by checking results before applying changes.

Remesh surrounding triangles

This option is checked by default.

Checked: all triangles on neighboring faces are remeshed, to smooth the transition between surface.

Deselected: all triangles on neighboring faces are stretched.

Falloff

By default the falloff distance is two times the offset distance.

Select By specific distance to specify the dimension of the affected area around the offset. Enter then the Falloff distance to define this area.

Note: This function do a purge nodes, deleting all isolated nodes.
