To use the Imprint tool

Use the Imprint command to match nodes and triangles on one surface with matching ones on the opposite surface.

Elements on one side of a good quality dual domain mesh match the elements on the opposite face. Use the Imprint command to improve the match between the two faces especially after mesh editing. You can also use it to match meshes imported from a third party software.

Example

You can also imprint non-vertical ribs, with only a small bending angle, onto the opposite surface.
Note: Imprint is only available for Dual Domain mesh types.
  1. Ensure that (Mesh tab > Selection panel > Select Facing entities) is deselected.
  2. Click (Mesh tab > Mesh Edit panel > Advanced > Imprint).

  3. In the Input parameters section of the dialog, choose where to apply imprinting:
    • Select All visible triangles to apply the changes to the whole model, or
    • Select Only in selected areas to select a specific area.
  4. Click the Select triangles including opposite side box, if disabled, and select the triangles on the model.
  5. Click Apply.
