About Latticing

Latticing refers to the result as well as the procedure of converting a solid volume into a structure of repeating patterns of beams, reducing weight without compromising performance.

Latticing in Netfabb

Latticing in Netfabb is available through several avenues. You can use the compact and streamlined Lattice Assistant that combines hollowing, lattice generation and merging with tools to generate perforation and matching plugs for drainage, the Lattice Commander's tools and methods to create and modify the individual lattices and wall sections, or skins, for your project, Autodesk® Optimization Utility for Netfabb®, a software that generates lattices and offers simulation and optimization of lattices and part shapes under load, and Selective Space Structures, or 3S, including Surface Structures, Netfabb's established modules to define, generate, and customize lattices and lattice patterns, or unit cell topologies.

Lattice Assistant and Lattice Commander are currently being presented as technology previews, and latticing in general is only included in Netfabb Premium and Ultimate.

Convenient access to the latticing tools in Netfabb is provided through the Lattices section in the project tree. Select it to find buttons to the four main latticing tools in the context view.
