Open File Options and Representation Reference

Specifies the options to apply to a file as it opens.

Access
  • In the Open dialog box, select a file type Options.
  • To set the default representations for models, select the Tools tab Options panel Application Options.
  • File tab File Open Options.
  • In a presentation file, select Presentation tab Create panel Create View .
  • In a presentation file, in the browser, right-click a presentation view Representations.

Options available in the dialog box depend on the type of file and on the method you use to access the dialog box.

Open Express
Select to load minimal top-level data and graphics (Express mode). Clear the check box to load model data for all top level and child documents (Full mode).
Design View Representations

Specifies the file with the design view representation to open.

Associative: Controls associativity with the design view representation in the model file. Select Associative to keep a link to the design view representation in the model file. When the design view representation is edited, the model in the presentation view updates with the edits. Cancel Associative to preserve the initial or current design view representation in the presentation view.

Last Active: Loads the design view representation that was last saved with the assembly file.

Master: Ignores the last-saved design view representation and loads the master.

All Visible: Loads a design view representation in which all components are visible.

Nothing Visible: Loads a design view representation in which no components are visible. Lists previously defined design views.

Positional Representation

Specifies the file with the positional representation to open. The representation includes alternate constraint values, component positions, or other attributes.

Note: In the Application Options dialog box, you cannot set private and positional representation settings as default.
Level of Detail Representation

Specifies the LOD (Level of Detail) representation to use for memory management. It can contain component suppression.

Master: Ignores the last-saved LOD representation and loads the master.

All Components Suppressed, All Parts Suppressed: Loads the corresponding LOD representation.

Last Active: Loads the LOD representation that was last saved with the assembly file.

Skip all unresolved files

Defers the resolve action for files not found and continues opening the specified file. The icon displays in the browser next to unresolved links. Rght-click the top browser node of a file containing unresolved files to initiate a Resolve File command. Clear the check box to resolve links on file open.
