Create a Displacement Set

Choose the parts of the model for an exploded view.

Video: Work with Displaced Views

  1. In a 3D or perspective view, select a model element (or multiple elements).
  2. Click Modify|<element> tab View panel (Displace Elements). The selection becomes a displacement set.
Note: Elements that are constrained cannot be displaced until the constraints are removed.
  3. Use the drag controls to move the displacement set in the X, Y, and Z direction, or explicitly set these values on the Properties palette.
  4. Edit the displacement set, and draw paths to illustrate its model location.
Note: Temporary dimensions cannot be applied on displacement sets.
  5. Tip: When creating a displacement set, displace one element first, and then use (Edit) and (Add to Displacement) to add other elements. This method may be easier than using the Tab key to locate and add elements to the displacement set.

To create displacement sets from elements in a subset, press Tab until the element to copy is selected, and click to select it. Then, click the (Displace Elements) tool.
