Define an Alphanumeric Sequence for Revisions

Specify one alphanumeric sequence per project.

If you use an alphanumeric sequence for revision numbers, you can specify the values and the order in which they occur.

  1. In the project, click View tabSheet Composition panel (Sheet Issues/Revisions).
  2. In the Sheet Issues/Revisions dialog, under Numbering options, click Alphanumeric.
  3. On the Alphanumeric tab of the Customize Numbering Options dialog, enter the following:
    • For Sequence, enter one or more characters to use for each value in the sequence.

Values in the sequence can include letters, numbers, and other characters (such as *, &, and %). They cannot include spaces or commas.

If the project contains more revisions than the number of values in the sequence, Revit uses double values. For example, if you define the sequence a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j, and a project has more than 10 revisions, Revit numbers the later revisions using aa, bb, cc, and so on.

    • Optional: For Prefix, enter characters to display at the beginning of each value in the sequence.
    • Optional: For Suffix, enter characters to display at the end of each value in the sequence.
  4. Click OK.
