Cutting Point (PartMaker)

The Cutting Point is the point that defines the outside limits of the material to be removed.

PartMaker uses the Cutting Point to calculate toolpaths for various cycle types in turning.

How to use the Cutting Point

Methods of defining the Cutting Point

Specify how the Cutting Point is defined for a profile group using the Cutting Point dialog. You can specify that you want PartMaker to select the Cutting Point automatically or you can enter specific coordinates to define the Cutting Point.

To display the Cutting Point

To verify the location of the Cutting Point used for a profile group, select Part Features > Show Cutting Limits. A small, highlighted, rectangle shows the Cutting Point.
