Profile groups for Cut-Off strategies (PartMaker)

When using the Profile Group Parameters dialog for a Cut-Off strategy, the following settings are available:

Strategy — Select the type of strategy to be performed.

Toolpath Options — Select one of the following options:

Cut-Off Distance (D) — Enter the distance at which cut-off operation is performed.

Chamfer OR Radius (q) — Enter the height of the chamfer or arc.

Start X Point (Xs) — Enter the start point of the toolpath along the X axis.

End X Point (Xe) — Enter the end point of the toolpath along the X axis.

Diam Clearance (Cd) — Enter the distance between the bottom tip of the tool and the part surface when a tool starts feeding into the part.

Axial Step — Enter the axial step for the cut-off operation.

Operations — Select the type of operations to be performed:

Tool ID — Enter the ID of the tool you want to use for the selected operation or click Select Tools to choose a tool from the Select Tool dialog.

When a tool has been selected, you can click the icon that shows a representation of the tool to display the Edit Tool dialog, where you can view, or modify, details of the tool.

Leads — Click to display the Leads dialog, where you can control the movement of the tool as it:

PartMaker creates Lead In and Lead Out moves when a profile group is created.

Groove Options — Click to display the Groove Options dialog.

Cutting Point — Click this button to display the Cutting Point dialog, where you can define the Cutting Point for the profile group. The Cutting Point is the point that defines the outside limits of the material to be removed.

Optional Path 1 -> 2 -> 1 — Select this option if you want PartMaker to create an optional path from point 1 to 2 and from point 2 to 1. For example, if you select this option when using chamfer, the cut-off tool roughs out material before creating the chamfer, which ensures that the tool does not cut sideways into the bar. If this option is not selected, the same profile would be generated in a single movement so the tool would have to dig into the bar.

Group Name — Enter a name for the profile group.

Select Tools — Click to display the Select Tool dialog, where you can select the tool to use for machining.
