You want to use the
Generative Design tools in
Revit, but you can't find or access them.
To be able to use
Generative Design from the
Revit user interface, you need one of the following:
- a subscription to the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, & Construction (AEC) Collection
- an enterprise business account
If you don't have one of those, you can access
similar functionality using
Dynamo for Revit. This includes students, resellers and distributors, and subscribers of
Revit only.
To access
Generative Design from
Dynamo for Revit
- In
Revit, click Manage tab
Visual Programming panel
(Dynamo).
- Open the desired graph.
Sample graphs (study types) are located here:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\AEC Generative Design
- To create a study, do the following:
- In
Revit, open the model and take any steps necessary to prepare it for the study.
- In
Dynamo, click Generative Design
Create Study. Select the study type, and
define the study.
Note: On the Define Study dialog, you cannot directly select
Revit elements. Instead, use select nodes in
Dynamo, and don't clear the cache on publication. You can also temporarily remove the input nodes from being "IsInput".
- To explore outcomes of the study, click Generative Design
Explore Outcomes.
Note: On the Explore Outcomes dialog, the Create Revit Elements button is not available. Instead, set the desired input values, turn on the Data.Gate node, and run the graph to create elements in the model.
