Beams

Click (Data Table) or select Analysis > Data. Select the Beams to tab define single-span, multi-span, and cantilever beams.

Each table record corresponds to a single span. Parameters have to be determined for each span: name, length, section dimensions, and others.

To define a double-span beam, provide the same beam name to both spans. To create a new beam, provide a new name in the first column of the new record. To create a left beam cantilever, enter zero in the field provided for the left support width.

Note: The program verifies and changes support dimensions if different dimensions are defined for the neighboring spans.

SECTION

While defining section dimensions, you can apply a rectangular section or a T-section. If a beam with non-standard cross-section is predefined (with pre-cast slabs, with lowered flanges, etc.) and the table is called, the program reads the data marking the defining cells in blue. It signals the change of non-standard dimensions to the dimensions available in the definition table.

The following symbols in the table refer to:

b - web width

h - total beam height

bf - T-section slab width

hf - T-section slab thickness.

LOADS

It is possible to define two types of loads (uniform load and concentrated load) and two load natures: dead (G symbol) and live (Q symbol). In the case of a concentrated load, the X symbol refers to the position along the span of the point of force application.
