In the module of RC walls calculated according to the French BAEL code and the American ACI code (for ACI it contains less options than for BAEL), after opening the Calculation Options dialog box and selecting the General tab the dialog box shown below appears on the screen.
The above dialog box allows the user to set general calculation options that will be used during wall calculations. They include:
- value of the reinforcement cover
- minimum (relative) load capacity.
Apart from that, the following parameters (available only for the BAEL code) may be defined:
- behavior factor used in seismic calculations (available only for the BAEL code)
- calculation method; the user may choose one of the two available methods: simplified method and classic method
- internal / external wall; this choice is of importance for generation of the anti-shrinkage and the constructional reinforcements of walls
- total building height; this value is significant for calculation of reduced loads from wind loads; NOTE: In the current program version the function allowing calculation of loads from wind distributed along the building height is not active yet.
- tensile stresses - the option is available for the simplified method of wall calculations according to the French BAEL code; it allows selecting a method of design due to tensile stresses. Depending on the option selected, for the considered wall band the reinforcement is calculated for the maximal value of a tensile stress or for the average value of a tensile stress occurring in the band. It should be remembered that in the case of compressive stresses the reinforcement is always calculated for the average stress value.
The algorithm of RC wall calculations is presented in Calculations of RC walls according to BAEL.
