Leader Note Symbol Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use this dialog box to specify the parameters of the leader note you are creating or editing.

Options

   

Show reference line

Adds a reference line from the leader to the note text. The icon to the left of the check box shows the result of your selection. This option is checked but disabled for the GOST standard.

   

Flip symbol

Flips the symbol so that note text is placed to the left of the leader. The icon to the left of the check box shows the result of your selection.

   

Adds an additional reference line above the currently selected reference line. Note text you add thereafter is inserted on the new reference line.

This button is visible only for the GOST standard.

Deletes the current reference line. The current reference line is highlighted in the drawing.

This button is visible only for the GOST standard.

Selects the next reference line away from the leader arrowhead, and displays its settings in the dialog box.

This button is visible only for the GOST standard.

Selects the next reference line toward the leader arrowhead and displays its settings in the dialog box.

This button is visible only for the GOST standard.

 

Requirements

 

Variables

Displays a list of functions and references to the properties of the object the note is attached to. Select an item from the list to insert it to the multi-line text editor, at the current cursor position.

 

Insert symbol

Displays a palette to enable you to insert a special character at the current cursor position in the multi-line text editor. In the rendered text mode, the editor shows the special character while in the plain text mode the editor shows the corresponding control key sequence.

 

Multi-line text editor

Edits note text. You use this editor to edit text, formulas, and special characters to show as note text. Use the right-click menu to access special editing tools.

     

Right-click menu options

Enables you to specify the formatting for the segment of text selected in the multi-line text editor. The formatting options are:

  • Format > Underline - Toggles underlining for the selected text
  • Format > Overline - Toggles overlining for the selected text
  • Format > Align - Specifies how the selected text aligns with stacked text on the same line
  • Format > Stacked- Stacks two segments of text, separated by a “/” character.
  • Format > Text Color - Specifies a color for the selected text
  • Format > Text Height - Applies a scale factor for the selected text
  • Format > Text Font - Specifies a font for the selected text
  • Format > Text Width - Applies a scale factor for the width of the selected text
  • Format > Tracking Factor - Specifies the spacing between characters of the selected text
  • Dim Style >Apply Dim Style - Applies a dimension style for a numerical expression. This option is visible only when a numerical expression is selected.
    Note: The remaining options in the Dim Style menu lists the available dimensions styles that you can select from.
  • Precision - Enables you to specify a precision for a numerical expression. This option is visible only if a numerical expression is selected. It is not available if you have applied a dimension style to the selected numerical expression.
  • Cut - Moves the selected text to the windows clipboard.
  • Copy - Copies the selected text to the windows clipboard.
  • Paste - Inserts the contents of the windows clipboard at the insertion point.
  • Delete - Erases the selected text.
  • Select All - Selects the entire content of the multi-line text editor.
   

Preview display mode

Selects how note text should appear in the multi-line text editor.

  • Plain Text - Displays formulas and formatting signs that define the note text.
  • Rendered Text Colored - Renders all formulas and formatting signs to show a true preview of how the note text appears.
  • Rendered Text Mono - Displays monochromatically the same text as the Rendered Text Colored mode.
Tip: Use the Plain Text mode to define formulas, especially if you are inserting functions. It also gives you more control over where references are placed. Use a rendered mode to check the formula.
 

Library

Lists all the note templates for the active drafting standard/revision in the symbol library. When you move the pointer over an item, all settings for that item appear in a tooltip. Each item in the library is associated with a context-sensitive menu.

   

Category

Displays a list of template categories that are applicable to the object the note is attached to. If the note is not attached to anything, only the category “Other” is available. The category acts as a filter for the list of templates.

   

Templates

Displays the list of available templates for the selected category.

   

Menu options

 

 

Load

Replaces the text in the multi-line text editor with the content of the selected note template.

     

Updates

Saves the content of the multi-line text editor to the selected note template.

 

 

Delete

Deletes the selected note template from the symbol library. Only templates that have not been used in the drawing can be deleted.

 

 

Rename

Makes the template name editable. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset validates the name you provide to ensure that the names of templates for a given category are unique.

 

 

Set default

Makes the selected template the default template for the selected category. A blue check mark appears next to the template name to indicate that it is the default template. The next time you attach a note to an object described by the selected category, the default template loads automatically and the multi-line text editor displays its content.

This option is available only if the selected template is not the default template.

     

Remove default

Removes the default status of the selected template. This menu option is available only on the default template. When there is no default template selected, no note text is pre assigned to the multi-line text editor.

This option is available only if the selected template is the default template.

   

Add

Saves current content of the multi-line text editor as a new template. Name the new template once it is created.

   

Import

Imports templates from the symbol library of another drawing. You can only import symbols of the same standard and revision as the note symbol you are editing.

Leader and Text tab

Arrowhead

Specifies the type of the leader arrowhead. When the arrowhead is set to By Standard, it acquires the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. Thereafter, if you change the arrowhead selected for the current drafting standard (in the Standard Settings dialog box or Leader Note Settings dialog box) the arrowhead for this symbol is updated automatically.

Edit leader segments

Add

Adds a leader, leader segment, or leader node.

Remove

Deletes a leader, or leader segment.

 

Edit object attachment

 

Attach

Attaches the symbol to an object in the drawing. When attached, if you move the object the symbol moves with it.

 

Detach

Detaches the symbol. The symbol becomes a free-standing object.

Reference line angle

   

Adjust

Hides the dialog box so that you can set the direction of the reference line. This button is not available in the GOST standard.

Text

 

Text justification

Sets the justification of text.

Note: This setting reverts to its default value if you flip the symbol.
 

Leader justification

Sets the position of the note text relative to the reference line.

Note: This option is disabled for the GOST standard. However, it is available for custom standards based on the GOST standard.

Settings

Opens the Leader Note Settings dialog box and enables you to edit the default settings for leader notes for the current drafting standard.
