The Shaft Generator guides you through the creation of rotationally symmetric segments of a shaft, and insert shaft components as necessary.
List of Prompts
The following prompts are displayed.
Shaft component name
Specifies a name to identify the shaft in the mechanical browser. This option is displayed only when mechanical structure is enabled.
Starting point of centerline
Specifies the starting point for drawing a centerline for the shaft. The starting point has various functions:
Starting point for drawing a centerline.
Extending an existing centerline for generating further shaft sections at the end of an existing shaft or editing an existing shaft.
New shaft for drawing a new shaft on an existing centerline.
End point of centerline
Specifies the second point required to draw a centerline for the shaft. By indicating this point, the shaft direction is determined, and the UCS is adjusted accordingly. The centerline length is adjusted automatically to the shaft length.
After having selected the centerline, use the Shaft Generator dialog box to specify the additional information required to draw the shaft.
