About Enabling the Mechanical Structure Environment (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

To take advantage of the productivity gains of mechanical structure, select the Structure workspace.

The Structure workspace displays the “Structure” ribbon tab, which contains commands required for the mechanical structure environment. It also displays the mechanical browser, and the structure catalog, two essential palettes for mechanical structure. If you have not turned on the ribbon, in the least, you must display the mechanical browser.

Even though you switch to the Structure workspace, mechanical structure is not enabled until you turn on the Mechanical Structure status bar button ( Find)by clicking it. However, if you invoke a mechanical structure command, the button turns on automatically. You can turn this button off until you create a mechanical structure entity. Thereafter, you cannot disable mechanical structure.

Note: When you load a workspace, some of the toolbars that you are familiar with may no longer be displayed. To continue to display these toolbars, please modify the workspace to show the required toolbars.

To automatically enable mechanical structure for every new drawing you create, you can modify the default settings in the AM:Structure tab of the Options dialog box.
