To Create a New Definition for an Existing Folder, Component or Component View Instance

1. In the mechanical browser, right-click the folder, component or component view instance that you want to create a new definition for. A menu is displayed.
2. Select Break Link.
3. On the command line, Enter a name for the new definition.
4. The item you selected in step 1 is unlinked from the original definition and reflects the new name.
   Note: If you create a new definition for a standard part, it is converted to a generic component and is no longer considered a standard part.
