This Introduction guides you through the initial setup for the tutorials. Once you have the tutorial files extracted and the application settings in place, you're ready to begin.

Let's get started by setting up your computer with the files you need to complete the Autodesk Factory Design Utilities tutorials.

Important: You must complete the steps in this Get Started section before moving forward in the tutorials. Skipping sections or steps can cause errors in your layout.

Download and Extract the Tutorial Files

Let's download the files you need to walk through the tutorials.

  1. Download the tutorial data sets from http://www.autodesk.com/fdu-tutorials1-4_download
  2. Extract the files to your computer's hard drive. A folder displays on your C: drive called C:/FDU Tutorials. This folder contains all the files you need to complete the tutorials.
  3. Make sure you are signed into your Autodesk account, logged into Vault, and connected to the Internet.

We're now ready to begin creating a 2D layout in Factory Design. You can now close all the remaining Factory Design applications. We will reopen the applications as we complete each exercise.
