Bend radius checking

Check bend radius in harness assembly

Use Check Bend Radius to check for bends that violate the specified Minimum bend radius . You can run a bend radius check on all objects in the harness assembly, all objects of a particular type, or one or more selected objects. The objects to check include wires, cables, cable wires, and segments.

Before you begin, you must set the bend radius value as a property on the object to check. You can also set the bend radius value at the library level.

  1. Activate the harness assembly to check.
  2. On the ribbon, click Cable and Harness tab Manage panel Check Bend Radius .
  3. Activate the harness assembly to check.
  4. In the browser, right-click a folder or select one or more harness objects to check for the object type to check. You can select wires, cables, or segments.
  5. To check the selection:
    • Select Bend RadiusCheck All Bend Radii from the context menu to check all objects of a selected type.
    • To check the selection: Right-click, select Bend Radius, and then select Check from the context menus.

Automatically check existing violations on routing and segment change

To automatically check bend radius on all segments, and routed and unrouted wires, cables, and cable wires, enable Active Bend Radius Checking in the harness settings.

  1. Right-click the harness assembly in the browser, and then select Harness Settings.
  2. On the General tab, click the Active Bend Radius Checking check box.

Set the bend radius multiplier and click the Active Bend Radius check for segments in the Harness Settings to actively check bend radius while creating segments.

Locate bend radius violations

Use Show Violations on an object with an existing bend radius violation to pinpoint the cause of the violation. The object that failed the bend radius check is listed at the top of the dialog box. A red symbol is shown at the location of the violation in the graphics window.

  1. In the browser or graphics window, right-click an object with an existing violation and then select Bend RadiusShow Violations on the context menu.
  2. Click the wire, cable, or segment in the list to highlight the related spline in the graphics window.
  3. Use the viewing tools as needed to closely examine the violation, and then make the needed adjustments.
