Cable and Harness Browser hierarchy

The cable and harness browser graphically illustrates 1 or more cable and harness subassemblies along with the assembly component hierarchy. Each harness subassembly contains an Origin folder and a single harness part. The harness part contains 1 folder each for the wires, cables, ribbon cables, segments, splices, and virtual parts that make up the harness. The harness subassemblies are placed in the browser with other placed components and are arranged in the order they are added to the assembly.

The browser also organizes and manipulates cable and harness data, shows and hides selected components, and controls and provides alternate access to functions from the context menu. It is available when a cable and harness assembly is open and active. It may also be displayed or hidden using View tab Windows panel User Interface Browser

Context menus

The context menu (right-click) accesses functions for operations on the selected cable and harness object in the browser. Depending on the browser edit context and the selected item, all options may not be available. The same context menu options, plus viewing options, are available when you select the item in the graphics window.

Add points

Use add points to the selected harness object (wire, cable wire, ribbon cable, or segment).

Automatic Route

Displays the dialog box for automatically routing one or more selected wires (including cable wires) into segments based on the shortest path through the network and the segment opening that is closest to the wire start and endpoints.

Bend Radius Check

Checks harness objects for bends that violate the specified minimum bend radius.

Bend Radius Clear Violations

Removes existing bend radius violations from the browser.

Bend Radius Show Violations

Shows the points causing a bend radius violation.

Bend Radius Suppress Violation

Ignore selected bend violations during all bend radius checks.

Connector Pin Properties

Use to view and change connector or splice pin properties for the selected harness object.

Delete

Use to remove the selected entity.

Delete All Points

Use to remove all points from the selected harness wire or cable wire.

Delete Fold

Use to remove a fold from the selected ribbon cable. The underlying fold point remains.

Delete Point

Use to remove points from the selected harness object (wire, cable wire, ribbon cable, or segment).

Display All as Centerline

Displays all harness objects of one type as centerlines.

Display as Centerline

Displays the selected harness object as a centerline.

Display as Rendered

Displays the selected harness object as three-dimensional shaded solids.

Display All as Rendered

Displays all harness objects of one type as three-dimensional shaded solids.

Delete Splice

Removes the selected splice.

Edit Cable

Changes the cable definition and pin connections for a selected cable occurrence.

Edit Fold

Changes the fold type, direction, and alignment for a selected fold.

Edit Ribbon Cable

Changes the raw ribbon cable definition, connectivity, and placement for a selected ribbon cable occurrence.

Edit Twist

Displays the Twist Control command to interactively reposition the ribbon cable body for a selected ribbon cable occurrence.

Edit Wire

Changes the wire definition and conductor connectivity for a selected wire occurrence.

Enter Angle

With the Twist Control command displayed, enables you to enter a precise angle for a selected ribbon cable occurrence.

Harness Properties

Displays the property dialog box for the selected harness object. Use to assign or remove virtual parts and change loom order and display type.

Harness Settings

Displays the dialog box for setting the default creation configuration of segments, wires, cables, ribbon cables, and splices in the harness assembly and nailboard drawings, and locates the wire library file.

Part Properties

Use to view and change part properties for the selected harness object.

Route

Use to manually route one or more wires or cables.

Redefine Splice

Use to insert an existing splice at a new location.

Splice

With a wire selected, use to click and place an existing splice on a wire.

Splice Wire

Use to insert the selected splice on a wire.

Unroute

Removes routed wires from segments.

View Path

Highlights all segments a cable, cable wire, or wire passes through.

Wire Pin Properties

Use to view properties, and add or remove virtual parts and custom properties for a selected pin occurrence.
