Joint Pin Generator dialog box - Design tab

Sets parameters for design of a joint pin.

Note: To insert joint pin using Joint Pin Generator, your assembly must contain components with geometry suitable for joint pin placement.

Also, you must be connected to the Content Center server and Content Center must be configured on your computers to work with Pin Generators. If you are not connected to the Content Center, the Items area on the right side of the Design tab is grayed out.

Placement

Specifies the placement of the joint pin.

For a joint pin, there are two possible placement selections:

  • Face - selects a start face to place the hole.
  • Existing Hole - selects an existing hole.
Note: Placement allows only selection of existing assembly hole.

Pin

Specifies the pin diameter.

Items

Designs a joint pin connection.

First, you must select a placement option. The generator chooses the appropriate number of holes for the selected placement option, or offers to select additional holes or add virtual holes. To begin populating the joint pin connection, follow the instructions provided under the Items list "Click to select pin". By clicking this area of the selection list, you are presented with a filtered list of available pin content (from Content Center) based upon previously set Hole Diameter settings.

Each of the components is editable:

Custom Properties

Displays the Custom Properties dialog box where you can change part parameters (length of joint pin, joint pin diameter, and so on).

Delete

Deletes the component.

Change Content

Displays a dialog box where you can select from filtered Content Center items.

Summary of Messages

Displays the reports about calculation. To open the Summary of Messages area at the bottom of the Calculation and Design tabs, double-click the double line at the bottom of tabs or click the chevron at the bottom of the tabs.

Graphical Preview

A graphic preview of the selected geometry is displayed. You can use grips to specify pin length, for example.
