In the base file, you can export the specific objects you want to make available for deriving. You might do this, for example, if you are the author of the base component and the user creating the derive feature does not have write access to the base component.
- On the ribbon, click Manage tab
Author panel Export Objects 
. - In the Export Objects dialog, select objects and click Export
at the top of the dialog. Each selected object is marked with an arrow 
icon. Parameters in this dialog share status with the Parameters dialog.
By default, a solid body is derivable, regardless of its export status. If you turn off export in this dialog, any derived part that references the solid body will fail.
Similarly, if you turn off export for an object that has already been derived, referencing objects fail. Use the Design Doctor to repair the errors.
