To Author Parts or iParts

Use component authoring to prepare a part or iPart for publishing to a Content Center category that requires authoring.

1. Open a part or iPart in Autodesk Inventor.
2. On the ribbon, click Manage tab Author panel Component.
3. In the Component Authoring dialog box, items listed in red are required settings for publishing.

   Select a Content Center Category to publish to. Options in the dialog box change to match requirements for the selected category.

4. In the iMate Mapping field, create the iMates mapping. Select a row, and choose an option in the Selection column. Then select geometry or work features in the graphic window or browser.

   If desired, rename the iMates.

5. In the Parameter Mapping tab, map category parameters to columns from the iPart table, or to parameters of the authored part. Category parameters that require mapping are marked with a yellow background.
   Tip: Enter a specific value in a Template Parameters field. The value is then used for all members of the authored family.
6. Click OK to finish authoring. Or, click Publish Now to start the Publish Part command.
