Tightness Factor

With a prestressed bolted connection, the distance between materials is undesirable (due to the bad quality of surface, for example) and this safety factor is introduced to prevent distance. Tightness factor k = 1 + Ψ (Additional tightness factor Ψ = 0.5 - 1.5). Recommended values for bigger bolt diameters are 1.5. Values for smaller bolt diameters are 2.5. To ignore it, set the value to 1.

Force Input Factor

This factor is used in the calculation of the prestressed force. It accounts for the position of the working load in the connected materials. To ignore force input factor, use a value of 1.

Joint Friction Factor

This factor is used in calculation of the working force. The size of friction force between various connected materials is taken into the account.

Thread Friction Factor and Head Friction Factor

These factors are used in the calculation of the required tightening moment. The friction force dependent on the thread material, nut/bolt material, and the connecting material.
