Creating an Application

Inventor ETO applications are Inventor addin applications that are installed within an existing seat of Inventor Architecture. The installer includes all necessary ETO runtime software, customer-created ETO libraries, and associated DLL files for customizing the Inventor experience.

  1. Create and test the application.
  2. Ensure that the application runs well, everything required for installation is known, and the location is identified.
  3. Place all of the files associated with the application in known locations.
  4. Include the files as you prefer them to appear on the screen of the end user.

An Inventor ETO application requires an ETO Library of application-specific ETO Designs and Functions. An Inventor addin may be desired, which is a DLL that communicates with Inventor and sets up the user interface with a custom appearance and content.

Attention: The deployment process allows you to select the Installation folder on the target computer. Have this folder on your development computer containing the files you want installed, exactly as it is on the target computer. In a silent install (default), the end user cannot change the target folder.
