Publish to ArcGIS Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to publish features of a layer to ArcGIS.

Area of Interest

Displays the area on the map where the selected layers are published. This is a read-only view that is displayed so you can verify that the published layers are published to the correct location.

Layer Definition

Specifies the layer properties to use for each Map 3D layer.

Map 3D Layer
Displays the layer names in the selection set.
ArcGIS Category
Displays the geometry type that represents the feature in ArcGIS.
ArcGIS Layer Name
Specifies the ArcGIS layer name for the Map 3D layer.

Layers are used in ArcGIS to organize content. A layer name is limited to 120 characters. A layer name must begin with a letter and cannot contain reserved words, spaces, or any of the following characters: (`~@#$%^&*,;()-+=|\<>?/{}.!'[]:").

Item Settings

Specifies the service name, description, tags, and sharing settings.

General
  • Service Name. Specifies a unique name for the published dataset in ArcGIS. A service name is required.

    The service name is limited to 120 characters. It must begin with a letter and cannot contain spaces any of the following characters: (`~@#$%^&*,;()-+=|\<>?/{}.!'[]:"). This name is used to identify the dataset in ArcGIS and displayed in your My Content list. The service name is also added as a prefix to the published layer names.

  • Summary. Specifies a summary that's displayed in ArcGIS for the published dataset. The summary is optional.
  • Tags. Specifies tags that can be used when searching for content in ArcGIS. At least one tag must be specified.
Advanced Settings
  • Operations. Specifies the editing operations that are allowed for the people and groups with whom you share the content. The following capabilities are available when you allow editing of content.
    • Add, update, and delete features. Editors can add, update, and delete features.
    • Update feature attributes only. Editors can only change the attributes of existing features.
    • Add features only. Editors can only add features.
  • Share With. Specifies the people and groups with whom to share the content.
    • Everyone (public). Specifies that the content is available publicly.
    • Your organization name. Specifies that the content is available to others in your organization.
    • These groups. Specifies that the content is available to others in your groups.

Publishing Location

Specifies the publishing location within your My Content folder in ArcGIS.

Publish To
  • My Content. Specifies the location for the published content within the My Content folder in ArcGIS. Select My Content or an existing subfolder within My Content.
    Note: You can create subfolders in ArcGIS. To create a subfolder, use the Create New Folder option on your Content page on the ArcGIS website. Go to the ArcGIS website, sign in to your account, and click the Content tab.

Publish

Publishes the content to ArcGIS.
