You can also use hatch patterns to fill polygons.
Area styles can include fills and borders that include symbols. For example, you can create a pattern made of symbols you specify, and control the symbol spacing and other aspects of the pattern. Fill styles are similar to AutoCAD hatches for polygon-based geometry. The symbols you can use to create fill and border styles include imported blocks in DWG files, symbols contained in layer files (*.layer) or symbol files (*.xml), or raster images (*.gif, *.jpg, *.bmp, *.png).
The Style tab appears on the ribbon whenever you select a feature layer in the Display Manager. The Style tab contains a subset of styling options that let you change common style properties. For defining area styles initially, use the Style Polygon dialog box.
