To Style Polygon Features

Specify the fill style and color, background color, edge style and color, and line thickness used to draw area (polygon) features.

To style polygonal areas

  1. In the Display Manager, select the polygonal feature layer to style.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click Style tab Style panel angle-arrow .
    • Click Style in the Display Manager menu area.
    • Double-click the icon to the left of the layer name in the Display Manager.
    • Right-click the layer and click Edit Style.
  3. In the Style Polygon dialog box, specify the size context and units of measurement for the style.
  4. Add any desired fills and border elements to the style and use the graphical area to adjust their positions.

    To create a pattern style with symbols, select a pattern fill and then select the symbol that will comprise the pattern.

    Each line pattern consists of a symbol (for example, a dash) and a space. For a solid line, the space is equal to zero. The repeat interval determines how wide the space is between symbols.

  5. Select each element in the style and use the options below the graphical area to change its appearance.
  6. Click Advanced to specify settings for the following:

      For borders:

    • Repeat Interval
    • Angle Control

      For fills

    • Origin Control
    • Origin
    • Angle Control
    • Symbol Repeat
  7. Click OK.
