To Create Surfaces From Point Cloud Data

You can create a raster-based surface in GeoTIFF format.

To create a surface from a point cloud

  1. In the command line, enter MAPCREATEPCSURFACE.
  2. Click the point cloud data in the drawing. Press Enter to finish selecting objects. The Create Surface from Point Cloud dialog box appears.
  3. To specify the Level of Detail, drag the cursor to where the corresponding value meets your needs.
  4. To filter the points used to create the surface, click the Filter button. The Select Allowed Classifications Dialog Box appears.
  5. Select one or more classifications from the list in the dialog box and Click OK.
    Note: You can deselect an item by clicking it again.
  6. If you want to change the default file name, save location, or layer, click the ellipsis button (...). In the Save As dialog, enter your preferred data.
    Note: Layer names cannot contain a period (.).
  7. Click OK. AutoCAD Map 3D toolset begins to create the surface.
  8. When AutoCAD Map 3D toolset is done creating the surface, it adds the surface to your map, adds a raster layer to the Display Manager, and creates a raster connection in Data Connect.
