Create a mask or set attributes by assigning a texture file

You can assign a texture file to the Mask attribute and other modifier attributes to control their values. The assigned texture sets the attribute based on its color values. For example, white areas of the map display the full attribute value, black generate an attribute value of 0, and gray areas 0.5.

  1. Beside Density Mask or the modifier attribute you want to control, click .
  2. In the Create Render Node window, click the File icon: .

    Maya creates a file texture node.

  3. In the node's Attribute Editor, under File Attributes, click the browse icon () beside Image Name, and then select the texture file you want to use.
