Select from among the X, -X, Y, -Y, Z and -Z options in the View > View Along Axis viewport panel menu to move your camera and view the scene from different directions.
The camera heads up display at the bottom of the viewport also updates to reflect the axis on which you are viewing the scene. For example, when switching between Y and -Y, you may see the HUD change from persp Y to persp -Y.
This action only changes the direction at which you are viewing the scene; for example, it flips from viewing the scene from the back of the center of interest to viewing from the front of the center of interest. It does not change the viewing distance from the camera.
You can also perform the same actions using the viewSet command with the various view* flags. For example:
viewSet -viewY
You can assign hotkeys to the View > View Along Axis submenu options through the Hotkey Editor. Select Windows > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor to open the Hotkey Editor, then select Other items from the Edit Hotkeys For drop-down list, and expand the Viewport Menus category.
