Create AOV overrides with Render Setup

Create overrides to enable or disable different AOVs on each render layer, or export your AOVs and import them into another scene.

Create AOVs via the Render Settings window, Arnold for Maya AOVs tab. You can then follow these steps to create overrides on each render layer.

To create an override to disable AOVs

  1. Click on the render layer for which you want to create an override, to set the layer as visible.
Note: Ensure that you do not have any collections selected in the render layer.
  2. Double-click the AOVs tab in the Scene settings of the Render Setup editor to open the Render Settings window.
    Tip:

You can also access the AOVs tab via Preferences > AOVs in the Render Setup editor menu.

  3. In the AOVs tab, right-click the checkbox beside the name of the AOV and select Create Absolute Override for Visible Layer.

An AOVs collection is created, along with a <AOV_name> sub-collection and an enable override.

  4. Select the enable override and disable it in the Property Editor.

To override the filter or driver attributes

  3. In the AOV’s tab, left-click the icon beside the AOV entry, and select Select Driver to display the Attribute Editor for the AOV driver nodes (or Select Filter for the filter nodes).
  4. Right-click the attribute that you want to override and select Create Absolute Override for Visible Layer or Create Relative Override for Visible Layer.
  5. Note: The default filter and driver nodes are noted with a < >; for example, <exr>. When an attribute of the default filter or driver node is overridden, an override is created beneath the Render Settings collection. Otherwise, when an attribute of a non-default filter or driver node is overridden, an override is created beneath the AOVs collection instead.
