You can open
.3ds,
.dae,
.dxf, and
.obj files using
File > Open.
MotionBuilder.
The best way to exchange data between MotionBuilder and other applications, such as 3ds Max and Maya, is to use the
Send to
commands in the application's
File menus. See
Send objects to Autodesk applications.
Tip: For other applications, export the scene or objects to the FBX file format and then use File > Open in MotionBuilder.
To open a file from other applications:
- Select
File > Open from the
MotionBuilder menu bar.
- In the
Open File
browser, set Files of Type to
All Files
- Browse to the location of the
.3ds,
.dae,
.dxf, and
.obj file you want to open and click
Open.
- In the Open Options window, disable any elements of the file you do not want to load with the file.
- Activate Apply Namespace if you want to prepend a namespace to objects included in the incoming file.
- Click Open.
The file loads in
MotionBuilder.
