Shield labels are similar to text labels in that you can define the name of the label, but unlike the text being applied directly to the part, the text is applied to a shield, or tag. The shields appear as separate shells added to the part.
- Select the part to be labeled.
- Click
.
- Enter the desired text for the label in the caption field. By default, the part name is applied as the label text.
- Click on the part to place a template for the label.
- Click and drag the blue nodes of the template to adjust the position, rotation, and size of the shield.
Tip: Use the
Ctrl key and the corner node to rotate the shield without adjusting the size. Use the
Shift key and the corner node to adjust the size without adjusting the orientation.
- Click and drag the blue node on the shield to adjust the orientation of the shield relative to the surface the label is applied on.
- Click the ellipses button to adjust the font, style, and size of the label text.
- Adjust the dimensions and thickness of the shield label as required.
- Choose a shield type from the drop-down menu. Available options include:

Left to right: Text appears left to right on the shield.

Left to right (mirrored): Text appears left to right, but is mirrored about the centerline of the shield.

Right to left: Text appears right to left on the shield.

Right to left (mirrored): Text appears right to left, but is mirrored about the centerline of the shield.

Left to right (embossed): Text appears left to right and is embossed into the shield.

Left to right (mirrored and embossed): Text appears left to right and is embossed into the shield, but is mirrored about the centerline of the shield.

Right to left (embossed): Text appears right to left and is embossed into the shield.

Right to left (mirrored and embossed): Text appears right to left and is embossed into the shield, but is mirrored about the centerline of the shield.

Apply to create the text label.
- Click
Yes to remove the old part or
No to keep the old part and the newly labeled part.
