Working with setups in an NC program

Add setups to NC programs, change their display in the NC program, and enable manual toolpath ordering.

To add a setup to an NC program

  1. Activate the setup you want to add to the NC program.
  2. Click Setup tab > Add to panel > NC Program and choose:
    • NC Program to add the active setup to the active NC program.
    • New NC Program to create an NC program, activate it, and add the active setup into it.

Alternatively, drag the setup entity onto an individual NC program entity in the Explorer.

You can add multiple setups to an NC program. If the same setup is added to an NC program more than once, each instance of the setup is appended with [n] where n is the reference number.

To change how setups are displayed in an NC program

Right-click an individual NC program in the Explorer and select Setup View to toggle between:

To manually order setup-toolpaths in an NC program

If you want to insert toolpaths that do not belong to a setup, or change the order of the toolpaths in the NC program, you need to de-activate automatic ordering. This can be useful to minimise the number of tool changes, or to reduce the distance of connection moves, but you lose the reliability of toolpath ordering provided by setups.

  1. Right-click an individual NC program in the Explorer and deselect Automatic Order.
  2. Drag a toolpath entity in the Explorer into a new position in the NC program. The marker under your cursor indicates the new position of the toolpath.
