Setups are
PowerMill entities that contain an ordered list of toolpaths, and define a number of properties for a machining operation, such as: workplane location, stock geometry, and clamp positions.
Use setups to:
- Organise the toolpaths in a project and maintain their order.
- Use a common workplane for toolpaths in a setup.
- Define the stock, for each operation, which represents the size, shape, and orientation of the raw material.
- Easily inform toolpaths in a setup to avoid or ignore the model-surfaces that represent clamps.
- Specify multiple runs of individual toolpaths in an NC program, to help reduce the effects of tool deflection.
- Work on the same part in different locations, by applying fixture offsets to the setups in an NC program. The fixture offsets are automatically applied to all the toolpaths contained in a setup.
Adding setups to an NC program ensures the number and order of toolpaths included in an NC program remain consistent. Changes made to the order of the toolpaths in a setup, that is included in an NC program, are automatically reproduced in the overall order of toolpaths.
You can create folders within individual setups to further organise your toolpaths.
