Selection dialog

Use the Selection dialog to select model components by Model, Colour, and Levels and Sets.

To display the Selection dialog:

• On the Default Thickness dialogs (Component Thickness, Verification Thickness, or Thickness Preferences, which are available by clicking Home tab > Setup panel > Thickness) click .
• From the Models context menu, select Select by Colour.

When a new component is imported into PowerMill, the thickness preferences are automatically applied to the component. In addition, because these selection settings are stored in the toolpath template, you can transfer the settings by exporting and importing the template into other projects. This enables you to reduce set-up and programming times when machining similar components.

For example, using the Selection dialog, you can select red components and assign the colour to a thickness set to be ignored while machining. When you export the thickness set and colour preferences to a template file and import the template into another project, PowerMill automatically assigns the selection settings to any red components in the target project.

Select by — Choose how you want to filter and select model components. Select:

• Model to list the models used in the project.
• Colour to list the colours used in the project.
• Levels and Sets to list the levels and sets used in the project.

Thickness Set — This box displays the selected Thickness Set.

Note: This is displayed if the Selection dialog is accessed from the Thickness Preferences dialog.

— Click to move the selected item to the Selection filter.

— Click to remove the selected item from the Selection filter.

Selection filter — The Selection Filter lists components that are selected.

— Click to remove all components used as the selection criteria.

— Enter the name of the component you want to select. This changes according to the Select by criteria.

• For Model, enter the model name.
• For Colour, enter the colour name or the RGB value of the colour you want to select.
  Note: Colours with similar RGB values (for example: [200,200,200], [201,200,200], [202, 200, 200]) are grouped under one colour (for example: Silver). Colours are grouped by the standardized X11 colour names, and are associated with the colour name whose RGB value they are closest to.
• For Levels and Sets, enter the level or set name.

Group colour shades — Select to group similar shades of colours. This option is available only when you select a Select by of Colour.

Note: Colour grouping must be done before any selection is made.

Select to choose components listed in the Selection filter.
