The Intelligent Cursor provides dynamic assistance for its two primary functions:
-
Point input — The Intelligent Cursor activates construction lines and labels for dragging, snapping and for point creation.
Construction lines are automatically drawn and displayed on all models. The Intelligent Cursor displays only the lines relevant to a key-point, hiding the construction lines again when you move the cursor away from the point.
Tip: Hold down the Shift key to show and hide construction lines temporarily. This is useful when using the Grid display because construction lines are off by default.
When adding or editing objects, you can “wake up” lines by hovering the cursor over a key-point. The construction lines are displayed to help you to correctly align your object, then disappear when you move the cursor away.
Note: To see all the lines as you work, use the
Level dialog to show the
Construction level. However, the construction level is not intended to be visible and the screen will become cluttered. We recommend that you normally work with this level switched off.
Note: Construction labels are also displayed by the Intelligent Cursor to indicate what happens when you click while the label is displayed.
-
Selection — The Intelligent Cursor highlights the object under the cursor ready for selection. The cursor icon changes to assist you when selecting and editing objects.
Right-click in an empty space in the graphics window to display the View context menu. Select or deselect the
Intelligent Cursor option to enable or disable the Intelligent Cursor.
