Labelling individual components in views

To label individual components in views:

  1. In the Bill of Materials dialog, click on the individual components you want to label. Hold down the Ctrl key to select more than one component.
  2. Click on the Bill of Materials dialog. The Label Items dialog is displayed showing a description of the first item selected to be labelled.
  3. The corresponding component is highlighted on the assembly drawing in the selected view.
  4. Click on the highlighted component. The cursor displays a label line.
  5. Click on the drawing to fix the balloon label. The description of the next item selected is displayed in the Label Items dialog.
  6. Click in the drawing to create the label or click Skip if you do not want to create a label for the item displayed.

The next selected item is displayed.

The corresponding label for the component is displayed in the Label column in the Bill of Materials dialog. Any skipped items are still highlighted in the Bill of Materials dialog.

  7. Create the BOM with the labels displayed, either in the drawing, or saved to a file. Use to toggle between saving the data as an embedded Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or creating the BOM in the drawing as an OLE file:
    • Create in drawing — Click on the drawing in the position you want the BOM to be displayed. The BOM is created as an OLE file that is embedded in the psmodel.

If a BOM is already in a drawing, this option creates an additional BOM.

    • Save To File — This option creates the Bill of Materials as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (.xls file). The Save As dialog is displayed where you specify a filename and browse to the drive and folder where you want to store the Bill of Materials.
Note: If a Bill of Materials is already in a drawing, this option creates an additional Bill of Materials. The existing Bill of Materials can be deleted.
  8. Labels are generated and displayed in the Bill of Materials dialog and the balloons are displayed in the chosen view.
