You can convert existing third-party specs or catalogs for use in
AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset.
In the Spec Editor, you can convert specs or catalogs from AutoPLANT or CADWorx to
AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset. Third-party specs convert to Plant 3D specs and third-party catalogs to Plant 3D catalogs. After conversion, you can view a list of exceptions in a detailed report.
Note: If conversion fails, you can check the log file for possible reasons. If the log file says “Cannot convert file. Open file in latest [third-party] spec generator. Then retry conversion,” your spec lacks class information required for conversion. Upgrading your spec by opening it in the latest version of the third-party spec generator supplies the missing information. You can then convert the spec to
AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset.
To resolve issues, you can adjust mappings (see
Understand Conversion Mapping) and run the conversion process again. You can also open a converted spec and add parts from a Plant 3D catalog.
Note: AutoPLANT and CADWorx specs include some component types that
AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset specs do not. These component types, such as nozzles and pipe supports, are ignored during conversion.
