Wind Loads - Masts / Towers (the NV 65 Code)

The option generates snow and wind loads on the following types of structures: truss masts, columns, towers (high-voltage line support towers), transmission towers, broadcasting masts, and so on.

Generate a snow or wind load by:

Note: Tower loads are available only for 3D bar structures: frame 3D and truss 3D. The base of the structure must be an equilateral triangle or rectangle. For the shape to be recognized, assign supports to the nodes located at the apexes of the structure base. These must be the only supports defined in the structure. For a structure with a triangular base, all the nodes should be defined on the wall edges. Occurrences of nodes in the center of a wall might cause errors in the algorithm recognizing structure walls.

All additional structure elements (structure equipment) that are not positioned in the plane of the structure walls should be defined only on the Equipment tab in the dialog. The equipment should not be modeled using structure bars, because it might prevent the algorithm from recognizing the structure walls.

Note: Wind loads for masts, towers, and columns are generated according to the French code NV 65 or NV 65 02/09 code.

The dialog has 4 tabs:

At the bottom of the dialog are the standard buttons (Close, Help, and Cancel) as well as the Generate button. Clicking Generate, generates a wind load on a tower and a calculation note.
