Stair Component Instance Properties

Modify instance properties to change an individual stair component's levels, offsets, tread depth, and more.

To change instance properties, select the element and change its properties on the Properties palette.

Constraints
Base Level Specifies the level for the base of the stairs.

When creating a stair in a

  • Plan view, the associated level is set as the base
  • 3D view, the bottom level of the project is set as the base
  • Elevation or section view, you are prompted to select the level
Base Offset Sets the offset of the stairs from the base level.
Top Level Sets the level for the top of the stairs. The default is the level above the base level or Unconnected if there is no level above the base level.
Top Offset Sets the offset of the stairs from the top level. (Not applicable if the value of Top Level is Unconnected.)
Desired Stair Height Specifies the height of the stair between the base and top levels. (Only available for modification if the value of Top Level is Unconnected.)
Dimensions
Desired Number of Risers The number of risers is calculated based on the height between levels.
Actual Number of Risers Normally the same as Desired Number of Risers, but may vary if you do not complete adding the correct number of risers for the given run of the stairs. (Read only)
Actual Riser Height Displays the actual riser height. The value is equal to or less than the value specified in the Maximum Riser Height stair type property. (Read only)
Actual Tread Depth You can set this value to change the tread depth without having to create a new stair type. Also, the Stair Calculator can change this value to satisfy the stair equation.
Tread/Riser Start Number Specifies the starting number for the tread/riser numbering annotation.
Structural
Structural Indicates that the element has an analytical model.
Rebar Cover - Top Face The rebar cover distance from the stair top face.
Rebar Cover - Bottom Face The rebar cover distance from the stair bottom face.
Rebar Cover - Other Faces The rebar cover distance from the stair to adjacent element faces.
Identity Data
Image Identifies the image associated with this element.
Comments Specific comments on the element.
Mark A label created for the element. A message warns you if the number is already used but allows you to continue using it. (You can see the warning using the Review Warnings tool. See Reviewing Warning Messages.)
Phasing
Phase Created The phase when the element was created.
Phase Demolished The phase when the element was demolished.
